The University of Indianapolis athletic department boasted a 2008-09 season to remember, with milestone achievements, conference championships and noteworthy performances that were nationally recognized.  Four different UIndy teams laid claim to league titles, part of 14 Greyhound squads that advanced to NCAA postseason play.

INDIANAPOLIS-  Head men's basketball coach Stan Gouard has announced his initial group of signees for the 2009-10 season.  The first two signees are from the Junior College ranks in Darius Adams (Lincoln College) and Dewann Squires (Lincoln Trail College) who both come from Region 24 at the NJCAA level.

Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
INDIANAPOLIS- Eight UIndy swimmers were named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Scholar All-Americans according to a release by the organization this week.  In addition, both teams were bestowed with Division II Team Scholar All-America accolades by CSCAA.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Teams for Division I, II & III were announced Wednesday with a total of 410 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor.  Four UIndy student-athletes were among the honorees, including Lyndsay McBride, Kristi Piepenbrink, Ashley Seaton and Allison Tyler.

FRANKLIN, Ind.- The UIndy women’s golf team has been busy this summer competing in a pair Indiana Women’s Golf Association (IWGA) events.  At the Pepsi Indiana Women's Open Monday and Tuesday, 2009 GLVC Golfer of the Year Kristi Piepenbrink led eight Greyhounds with a two-round score of +9, good for a share of 11th, while defending individual national champion Lyndsay McBride and Allison Tyler teamed up to successfully defend their title at the 2009 Indiana Women’s Team Championship June 20.

INDIANAPOLIS- The Sagamore Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Noblesville, Ind., will be the site of the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships. The event is scheduled May 18-21. The University of Indianapolis and the Great Lakes Valley Conference, with assistance from Indiana Sports Corporation and the Hamilton County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will host the championship.

INDIANAPOLIS-  University of Indianapolis student-athlete Emily Schaf has been named to the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, according to an announcement made public Friday.  Schaf becomes the 42nd Academic All-America honoree at UIndy and the 30th since 2000.

ORLANDO, Fla.- The University of Indianapolis finished in fifth place among 232 NCAA Division II schools earning points in the 2008-09 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, released Friday.  The Directors' Cup is annually awarded to the best overall collegiate athletics program in the country, tallying points for an institution's national finishes in up to 14 sports-- seven women's and seven men's.

INDIANAPOLIS-  Three more UIndy students have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, announced by league officials Friday.  Justin Hueber (men's golf), Lyndsay McBride (women's golf) and Emily Schaf (women's track & field) were each selected for this prestigious award, bringing the total of UIndy Scholar-Athletes this year to six after Brian Fishback (men's soccer), Abby Tracy (women's soccer) and Kyleigh Turner (volleyball) received distinction in the fall.

NORMAN, Okla.- The Golf Coaches Association of American announced the remainder of its post-season awards this week, with UIndy junior Seth Fair and freshman  Aaron Monson joining teammate Justin Hueber on the list.  After Hueber was announced as a First Team All-American two weeks ago, Monson garnered All-American Honorable Mention while Fair took All-Midwest Region honors.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-  Senior men's golfer Justin Hueber, senior women's golfer Kristi Piepenbrink and junior softball player Megan Russell were named the University of Indianapolis Male and co-Female Athletes of the Year, respectively, for the 2008-09 season.   Hueber was a First Team All-American, helping the Hounds to a tie for sixth place at the NCAA National Championships.  Piepenbrink was tied for fifth individually at nationals as the team advanced past the regionals for the first-time ever en route to a tie for third nationally.  Russell demolished the school's homerun record and helped pitch UIndy to its first DII World Series berth.
