Head Coach John Griffin, the winningest coach in the UIndy program’s history (by percentage), enters his sixth season at the helm of the Greyhound men’s squad. His 49 wins in five seasons are easily the most in a four-year span in the programs’ history.

Last season, the Hounds finished with a 6-7-4 record and were knocked out of the GLVC Tournament in the first round by Drury. The season was highlighted by a win against ninth-ranked Lewis in overtime as well as senior Brian Fishback becoming the GLVC Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year under Griffin's guidance.

In 2007, Griffin led the Hounds to the GLVC Tournament’s semifinals, with his squad defeating SIU-Edwardsville in the first round of play in penalty kicks. The 2007 Greyhounds finished with a record of 11-6-5.

The 2006 season was a record-setting campaign for UIndy as Griffin’s Hounds racked up a 13-7 record, breaking the school’s all-time marks for wins in a season (previously 11).  The team rolled out to a 6-0 start to begin the season and extended an impressive streak of nonconference wins, marking 15 straight wins over non-GLVC foes.

In 2005, the Greyhounds went 10-6-2 to become the first UIndy team to reach doube digits in wins since the 1999 squad went 11-9.  The 2005 Greyhounds also spent time in the national rankings, peaking at No. 18.

Griffin made an impressive coaching debut at UIndy in 2004. The Greyhounds recorded a 9-6-3 record, the school's third-best mark ever at the time. The team advanced to the GLVC tournament for the first time since 2001, earning Griffin GLVC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year accolades.
A familiar face on the sidelines of the youth club ranks, Griffin has been involved with coaching at the youth level for 13 years. He has spent the last few years coaching youth teams at local Dynamo FC based in Washington Township on the Northside of Indianapolis. During his time with Dynamo, he has served as the club’s Director of Coaching and on the club’s Coaching Committee.

Griffin has been highly involved in the Olympic Development Program in both the State of Indiana beginning in 1997 and with the USYS Region 2 since 2001.  While with Indiana ODP he has coached the ’84 and ’86 state teams and served as an assistant with the ‘87’s, ‘88s, and ‘89s.  With the USYS Region II staff he is currently serving as an Assistant coach for the ‘91 Regional Team.

On the playing field, Griffin played high school soccer at Ft. Wayne Canterbury, and collegiatly at Baldwin-Wallace College. He followed with amateur soccer with Fort Wayne Sport Club and Cleveland Donauschwaben, and a professional stint with the Indiana Blast in 1997.

Griffin holds a USSF “A” license through US Soccer and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. He has a M.A. in Biomechanics from Ball State University.
