Cheerleaders win awards at Spirit Camp

The University of Indianapolis cheerleading squad attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association's College Spirit Camp at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, July 28-30, and came home with several honors.   The UIndy team placed fifth in the DII and Small School sidelines all-girl squad competition, was named "Most Improved at Camp" and won the "Leadership Award" for DII and Small School all-girl squads.

There were over 800 campers, dancers, and mascots in attendance at the three-day competition.  The most prestigious of the honors is the Division Leadership Award, which is voted on by fellow peers within the division.

The squad is administratively directed and supervised by Diane Drumm. Drumm serves as assistant to the director of athletics. The team is coached by Tessa Drake. Drake, in her second season as coach, was a four year member of the Greyhound cheer squad and served as captain during the 04-05 season.
