INDIANAPOLIS- Five women's soccer players earned GLVC postseason honors, with senior
Alli Opfer being named first team All-GLVC,
Abby Tracy,
Amanda Reese and
Ashley Seehase making the all-conference second team and
Lauren Soza earning a spot on the All-GLVC third team.
Wisconsin-Parkside swept the individual awards, with Meredith Novak taking honors as the Offensive Player of the Year, Lauki'i Cheng being named the Defensive Player of the Year, Shannon Becker taking the Freshman of the Year title and Troy Fabiano getting GLVC Coach of the Year honors.
Opfer, in her third year of soccer after a two-year basketball career with the Greyhounds, took a defensive spot on the All-GLVC first team. Opfer helped the Hounds to 10 shutouts on the year in the backfield, and also scored a pair of goals and added an assist on the year. This is Opfer's third appearance on an All-GLVC soccer squad, as she earned all-second team accolades last season and Honorable Mention props her first year.
Tracy, the Greyhound goalkeeper, also earned her spot through defense, posting nine of the 10 overall UIndy shutouts in the goal. Tracy currently boasts a goals against average of 0.68 and has allowed just 11 goals on the year in more than 1,400 minutes on the field. She also has one assist on the year. This is Tracy's first All-GLVC nod, although she has been named the conference's "Player of the Week" on two occasions during her career.
The team's leading scorer, Reese, took a forward spot on the All-GLVC second team. Reese is currently leading the Hounds with eight goals on the year, and also has one assist. The junior has started all 16 games and has three game-winning goals to her credit in 2008. This is the third year Reese has been named to an All-GLVC team, taking first team honors last season and honorable mention her freshman year.
Seehase is the other half of the UIndy junior scoring duo, posting six goals on the year with six assists. She leads the team in points with 18 total, and has two game-winning goals on the season, including an overtime score to give the Hounds the win against Lewis Sept. 19. This is Seehase's third time as an All-GLVC honoree, as she earned a spot on the circuit's first team last year and the second team her freshman year.
Soza is the lone UIndy freshman to garner All-GLVC honors, finding her spot on the third team out of the Hound midfield. Soza has started all 16 Greyhound contests, posting two goals and four assists in her first year of collegiate soccer.
UIndy continues its season in the GLVC Tournament, traveling to Quincy for the opening round of play. The match will kick at 1 p.m.
