INDIANAPOLIS-  The Greyhound swimming and diving teams embarked on the first home meet of the 2008-09 season, concluding a two-day, four-team meet with Ashland, Truman State and Wayne State Saturday.  Both the Hounds men's and women's teams went 1-2 for each day, as the men beat Truman State twice and the women bested Ashland on back-to-back days.

The men's 400 medley relay squad kicked the meet off with a win, touching in 3:30.66.  Alican Alacli won the 1000 freestyle, finishing in 9:43.52 for an NCAA "B" time standard.  Baris Ilhan just missed on a B-cut, placing third just 10 seconds behind.  Alacli also picked-up a B-cut with his 16:25.85 swim in the 1650 freestyle (2nd).  Marios Panagi was barely shy of a B-cut in the 50 freestyle, touching in 21.52.  Manuel Stiem's 4:01.17 time in the 400 individual medley not only gave him the win, but an NCAA A-cut standard as well.  He nabbed another with his winning time of 1:52.95 in the 200 IM. Stiem later grabbed a B-standard time in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.11) and another in the 100 breaststroke (58.01). Adam Petro took second in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:55.58, an NCAA B-cut.

Isabela Tafur earned a B-cut in the 200 freestyle with her 1:53.94 time, good for second place.  Tafur also took third in the 100 freestyle (54.13).  Erica Smith earned B-cuts in winning the 100 butterfly (57.37) and placing third in the 200 fly (2:09.34).  Meghan Donahue was a winner in the 200 backstroke with a 2:10.57 clocking.  Cansu Akin was less than a second behind for third place in that event.  Abby Josslin earned second place finishes in the 1-meter dive and took third from the 3-meter board Friday and second Saturday.

The Greyhounds head to Ashland, Ohio in two weeks to dual with the Eagles in GLIAC action.
