OWENSBORO, Ky.- Leading by six points at halftime, the University of Indianapolis women's basketball team outscored Midway College 54-28 in the final 18 minutes to cruise to a 107-75 victory in the opening game of the KWC Classic at the Owensboro Sportscenter Saturday afternoon. UIndy upped its record to 4-0 on the season in its first 100-point game in nearly four years.

UIndy's point total was its highest since a 110-25 blowout win against Fisher (Mass.) Dec. 30, 2004. The sum threatened the program's all-time record of 115 points reached in a 38-point drumming of Kentucky Wesleyan Jan. 10, 1985, a game that also took place in the Sportscenter.

The Greyhounds led by as many as 19 in the first half, but with 4:06 on the clock, Midway (0-4) finished the half with a 19-6 run to head into the locker room down 49-43. The Eagles went 8-for-13 from three-point range in the first half, with four bombs coming in the final four minutes.

Another Eagle triple early in the second stanza made it 53-48 UIndy, but that's when the Hounds put the pedal down. It took just four minutes for the Greyhounds to turn the five-point edge into a 20-point advantage. UIndy's lead topped out at 35 points just before the 107-75 final.

Indianapolis used 20 offensive rebounds to score 24 second-chance points. The Hounds continued its strong free-throw shooting as well with a 30-for-34 effort from the line, bringing its team percentage to .836 on the season.

Samantha Meissel scored 10 points of her game-high 18 after the break. The 6-2 sophomore went 7-of-12 from the floor while adding six rebounds. Katie Lyons totaled a career-high 16 points, eight boards, and two blocks while point guards Katie Dewey and Megan Gardner combined for 20 points and 15 assists.

UIndy continues play in Owensboro with a 2 pm tip against Ferris State Sunday.
