Hounds drop GLVC semi-final

NKU bests Hounds 1-0 in overtime

Box Score

SOMERS, Wis.- It took almost 100 minutes of soccer to decide the first GLVC Championship semi-final match between Northern Kentucky and UIndy, with the Norse coming out on top 1-0 on an overtime goal. The loss drops the Greyhounds' record to 11-5-2 on the season, while NKU improves to 15-2-0 and heads to the tournament's championship game Sunday afternoon.

The game-winner came in the 99th minute of play, with Kristi Hofmeyer taking a shot from about 20 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal. The ball snuck in the corner of the net, just past the jumping Abby Tracy's outstretched arms. Brandi Doss assisted on the play for the Norse.

Prior to the goal, NKU had another chance on a penalty kick earlier in the overtime. The shot sailed high of the goal, however, though.

Neither team could net a goal in the first 90 minutes of play, with NKU taking eight shots in regulation to UIndy's six. The Norse got off three shots in the overtime period, while the Hounds took none. In all, the Norse had 10 corner kick chances to UIndy's four.

UIndy was led by Ashley Seehase who took three shots in the match.

The Hounds now await the NCAA Tournament selection, which takes place Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.
