Women's Soccer earns NSCAA Academic Team Award

KANSAS CITY, Kan.- For the second time in as many years, the University of Indianapolis' women's soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coach's Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award.

The Greyhound women’s squad was one of 260 teams nationally to receive the NSCAA Academic Award. The 2008 UIndy team amassed a team GPA of 3.28 to earn the program's fifth NSCAA Academic honor in its history.

In order to receive the academic honor, a team must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2006-2007 academic year.

KANSAS CITY, Kan.- A pair of Greyhound women's soccer players earned national accolades from the NSCAA for their performance in the classroom, with seniors Alli Opfer and Abby Tracy both being named to the 2008 NSCAA/adidas Women’s College Scholar All-America Teams. Opfer earned a spot on the College Division second team, while Tracy was selected to the College Division third team.

SOMERS, Wis.- It took almost 100 minutes of soccer to decide the first GLVC Championship semi-final match between Northern Kentucky and UIndy, with the Norse coming out on top 1-0 on an overtime goal. The loss drops the Greyhounds' record to 11-5-2 on the season, while NKU improves to 15-2-0 and heads to the tournament's championship game Sunday afternoon.

QUINCY, Ill.- An Alli Opfer score with 25 seconds left in the second overtime propelled the Greyhounds to a 1-0 win against Quincy and kept their GLVC postseason alive. With the win, the No.6-seeded Hounds advance on to the second round of the tournament, defeating the No.3-seeded Hawks.
