Robbins, Turner receive All-American recognition

INDIANAPOLIS- All-region performers Beth Robbins and Kyleigh Turner can both add “All-American” to their list of accolades.  Each garnered All-American honorable mention from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) while Robbins received Third Team All-American distinction from Daktronics, Inc.

Robbins' third-team nod is her second in as many seasons as the setter became the first All-American in program history last year by earning a third-team nod from Daktronics.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native finished her UIndy tenure with both the career and single-season assist records while also ranking ninth in the school annals in career digs. The 2008 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year also spearheaded the program's all-time winningest class as Robbins collected 110 wins in her career, most ever in a four-year span.

The honorable mention from the AVCA marks the first All-American recognition from Turner.  The All-Midwest Region First Teamer owns three of the top five highest single-season dig totals in school history and is already the career leader in that category with a full year of eligibility remaining.  The Muncie, Ind. product earned her second All-GLVC First Team award in 2008 and was also named to the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament.

Note:  Voting on the Daktronics award was conducted by a nationwide poll of the Division II sports information directors, while the AVCA honors were compiled from votes cast by the nation's DII coaches.  Click here for the complete Daktronics release, and here for the AVCA honorees.
