BAY CITY, Mich.- Senior swimmer Ellie Miller has been named a recipient of the 2008 Winter Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Commissioner Award, according to an announcement made this week by league officials. Miller helped lead UIndy to an 11th-place national finish this season, earning four All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Championships in March. Miller was also one of 23 UIndy student-athletes recognized to the GLIAC's All-Academic Team.
Miller, an Elementary Education major with a remarkable 3.931 grade point average, completed a fantastic four-year career at Indianapolis this past season. The Cincinnati, Ohio native was named the UIndy Female Swimming Most Valuable Athlete and was the athletic department's January Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
Miller has been named to the All-GLIAC Academic Team three times in her decorated career. She sits second in the all-time Greyhound record book in four different events. Last season, she became UIndy's 41st all-time CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, earning Third Team At-Large accolades.
Joining Miller on the All-Academic Team for Indianapolis were 11 males and 11 more females.
