SOUTH HAVEN, Mich.- Freshman Aaron Monson set the tone in a dominating win for the Greyhounds at the Great Lakes Regional #1 at Hawkshead Golf Course in South Haven, Mich. completed Monday. Monson shot 66-67 to win the tournament by four strokes and helped the Hounds shoot a blistering 271 (-17) Monday to run away with the tournament.
Monson's 133 (-11) broke the school record for a two-day tourney in a regional that featured a host of records broken. UIndy's second round of 271 (-17) shattered the school record for a single round and the Greyhounds' 550 (-26) was a tournament record and also set a new program standard for a two-round tourney.
Seth Fair shot 70-69 (-5) to finish in the top five individually. Kyle Pearson was two shots back with his 72-69 (-3). Justin Hueber shot 70-73 (-1) while Blair Webb shaved 10 strokes off his day-one score, posting a 77-67 (E) scorecard.
UIndy (-26) ran away with the win, outdistancing Ferris State (-2) by 24 strokes. Grand Valley State (+1) and Drury (+4) made up the top four teams.
The Hounds head back to West Michigan next weekend to compete in the Laker Fall Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich.
