Women's Basketball:
The 23rd-ranked Hounds (16-2, 5-1 GLVC) ran their winning streak to eight with a pair of home wins this past week with the help of sophomore forward Samantha Meissel.  On Thursday, the Hounds beat Missouri-St. Louis, 83-72, as Meissel led the team with 24 points.  Saturday, Meissel dropped-in 22 second-half points en route to a career-high 35 points as the Hounds toppled Rockhurst, 86-77.  UIndy's only two losses this season have come to undefeated No. 1 Northern Kentucky and seventh-ranked Hillsdale.  The Greyhounds will gear-up for a showdown with defending-league champion Drury Thursday night in Springfield, Mo., followed by a Saturday matinee at Missouri S&T.

Men's Basketball:  The UIndy men (6-9, 1-5 GLVC) split a pair of home games last week, garnering their first conference win on Thursday with a 76-70 overtime victory over Missouri-St. Louis.  Senior Keith Radcliff scored 24 points in the win and added 26 more on Saturday, but it was not enough as Rockhurst escaped with a 96-80 win.  Radcliff, who is currently fourth in the GLVC in scoring, hit five triples in the two games and is second in the league in that category.  On tap this week is a trip west to face Drury (Thursday) and Missouri S&T (Saturday).

Swimming and Diving: The Greyhound swimming teams bested local talent at the UIndy Invitational at Ruth Lilly Fitness Center Pool Friday and Saturday.  This year's participants included all three collegiate swimming programs in the city (Butler, IUPUI and UIndy).  The Hounds flexed their muscle, winning all but three of the 36 events contested over the two days.  NCAA B-cuts were earned by Ozlem Taskin (200 freestyle) and Erica Smith (100 butterfly) who each won their event on Friday.  The Greyhounds will host a meet this Friday as the women welcome Saint Mary's while the men compete with Wabash College at RLFC Pool.  Action begins at 6:00 p.m.

Wrestling: The UIndy grapplers tallied their second dual-meet win of the season with a dominating 38-9 win at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Saturday. The Greyhounds won eight of the meet's 10 bouts in the decisive victory to improve their dual meet record to 2-3.  Wins included Jake Blackwell's pin in the 165 weight class and Keith Smith's 16-0 technical fall at 184.  UIndy returns to action at Manchester's Spartan Classic Saturday. Wrestling is to start at 9:00 am.

Indoor Track and Field:
UIndy got 2009 started with a bang, registering four NCAA qualifying marks at the Indiana Open Saturday.  All-American Willie Little finished second in the men’s 35-pound weight throw with a personal-best and provisionally-qualifying mark of 18.75 meters.  Emily Schaf cleared 1.70 meters in the high jump, tying for third and also qualifying for the NCAA Championships with that effort.  Andrea Horban threw a provisional-qualifier, when she threw 14.08 meters in the shot put.  Amy Schmitz, finished in the top 20 in the women’s shot put and set her provisional mark in the 20-pound weight throw with a personal-best toss of 17.10 meters. The Hounds are next in action this Friday, sending a select few to the Notre Dame Open.
