On tap: UIndy will play three of its next four games at home, looking to collect league wins and enter the playoff picture in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Both opponents, Quincy and Lewis, are clinging to the bottom few spots in the playoff race, giving the Greyhounds an opportunity to make up ground quickly. Quincy will be the final GLVC West opponent, then the final nine contests will be intra-division games with GLVC East foes.
About Quincy: The Hawks allow just 64.4 points per game to their opponents, the second-best average in the conference. QU is just 2-5 away from home this season. The Hawks have four players in double digits scoring led by Justin Brock's 13.5 average and Billy Baptist's 13.4 clip. UIndy owns a 15-8 edge in the all-time series between the schools, including wins in each of the last two seasons.
About Lewis: LU has two of the league's top eight scorers in Brandon Dagans (17.0) and Jason Genova (14.4). Winners of their last three games, Lewis sports a 10-5 overall record, but just a 2-5 record on the opponent's home floor. The Flyers hold a 34-24 advantage all-time between the teams. The teams split last season with the Hounds winning the final game, a 113-109 triple-overtime thriller at home Feb. 21.
UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard: Stan Gouard is in his first season as the head man at Indianapolis. Gouard was introduced as the new head of the Greyhound program on Apr. 3, 2008. He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy. While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.
Milestone Watch: Several Greyhounds are pursuing personal milestones in the coming weeks, here is a look at some of the marks that are within reach:
Braxton Mills- Needs 3 points for 800 career
Braxton Mills- Needs 2 rebounds to crack UIndy top 20
Braxton Mills- Needs 21 blocks to become UIndy leader
Tyke Cockerham- Needs 36 assists to crack UIndy top 20
Keith Radcliff- Needs 51 3FG to crack top 10 (Currently T14th)
Keith's Feats: Keith Radcliff leads the team in scoring and has tallied the top UIndy point total in each of the past five games. During that stretch, Radcliff has averaged 21.8 points per contest, including three straight 20-point games (24, 26, 25). In UIndy's 17 games this season, Radcliff has been the top point producer 10 times.
Working Overtime: UIndy's 76-70 overtime win Jan. 8 vs. Missouri-St. Louis was its fourth straight win in extra sessions, dating back to last season. The current win streak comes on the heels of a previous 10-game losing streak in games that went beyond regulation. The Hounds had a single (at SVSU), double (vs. Bellarmine) and triple-overtime (vs. Lewis) win last season.
Win the Boards, Game: The Greyhounds have equaled or out-rebounded their opponent seven times this season, five of those ending up in the win column. In their six wins, the Hounds have combined to average 13 more rebounds (40-27) than their opponent. In the 11 losses, UIndy has been outboarded 37-31 on average.
New “Cors” of Action: Freshman
Paul Corsaro joined the team for the spring semester, transferring from Youngstown State. There, Corsaro was the quarterback for the Penguin football team and will join the Greyhounds on the gridiron as well. He was a two-sport star at Roncalli High School, leaving as the school's all-time leading scorer in basketball. Corsaro has ties to UIndy, as his mother, Susie (Kuntz) Corsaro was a standout volleyball player for current Greyhound Athletic Director Sue Willey from 1983-86.
