SOMERS, Wis.- A pair of Indianapolis Greyhound swimmers earned national honors this week, winning Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors for Division II, announced by CollegeSwimming.com Tuesday. Both athletes were successful in their season-opening meet at Purdue University.
Maura Donahue won the 500 freestyle (5:05.99- NCAA "B" cut) and swam to a second place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:11.930-NCAA "B" cut) at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet. The freshman also contributed to the fourth place 200 medley relay (1:51.66), thus helping the Greyhounds to third place.
Guy Kogel had one win to help the Greyhounds to a third place finish at the Indiana Intercollegiates. Kogel won the 100 butterfly (49.93- NCAA "A" cut) and swam to a second place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:43.83). The sophomore also assisted on the third place 200 medley relay (1:36.41).
The swimmers will return to action in two weeks, hosting Ashland, Truman State and Wayne State at Ruth Lilly Center Pool on Oct. 24.
