On tap:  The Greyhounds open the 2009-10 season with a pair of exhibition games against in-state NCAA Division I teams-- Valparaiso and Indiana State.  Sunday's opener will be the first time the public will get to see the new-look Hounds, who have a wealth of talent from Division I and junior college ranks joining them following the loss of six seniors from last year.

About Valpo:
The Crusaders welcome back six letterwinners from last year's squad, including a trio of starters, while also adding eight newcomers for the
2009-2010 campaign.  Valpo was picked eighth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll.  Butler claimed 43 of 46 1st-place votes to top the poll.

About Indiana State:
It will be familiar territory for UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard when the Greyhounds visit the Hulman Center.  Gouard spent three seasons as an assistant coach there (2005-08), including one under Sycamore head man Kevin McKenna.  The Sycamores were selected seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason poll.  Northern Iowa topped the poll.

UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard
Stan Gouard brings a 9-18 record into his second campaign as the Greyhound front man.  He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy.  While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.

Into the Woods:
Senior Larry Woods is the team's highest returning scorer, averaging 10.3 points per contest.  In 23 games played, Woods scored in double figures 10 times, scoring a season-high 26 at Saginaw Valley State (Dec. 22).

Thunder-Struck:
Senior Sergey Struck returns for his final campaign, a year after making nine starts last season.  Struck averaged 5.6 ppg and 3.1 rpg.  His best game came in a 9-for-10 effort for 24 points in a Dec. 17 win over Brescia.

Knight Rider:
Senior Dijon Knight played in 16 games off-the-bench last season, posting 2.4 points per contest.  Knight's season high was an 11-point effort against Salem International (Dec. 13).

Devin's 27:
Senior Devin Williams played in all 27 games last year, making starts in 13.  He averaged 3.7 points per game with his high (14) coming vs. Saint Joseph's on Jan. 31.

Double Duty
Sophomore Paul Corsaro will not be with the team for the first few weeks, but he has a good reason.  Corsaro also plays football for the Greyhounds, buckling the chin strap to play quarterback on the gridiron.  Thus far this season, Corsaro is 12-for-22 for 57 yards with 2 TD and 2 INTs.

Exhibition Recap 08-09:
The Greyhounds played at Tennessee and at IUPUI last season in exhibition play.  Against the Volunteers, UIndy used a aast start and a solid finish to counterpunch a few UT runs of double digits or more to stay with the talented Volunteers, falling 87-74.  Tristan rogers led all scorers with 16 points.  Three nights later, host IUPUI earned intra-city bragging rights with a tough-fought 83-75 exhibition win at the Jungle.  The Jags used an energetic start to build a lead and fended off a Greyhound rally to earn the win.  Keith Radcliff's 21 points led the Hounds.
