CHICAGO- The Greyhound cross country teams made the annual trek to the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational Saturday, a popular event that draws teams from all around the midwest. The UIndy women were 15th in a field of 34 while the men took 16th among the 39 teams in the men's race.
Katherine Wilhelm (Wabash, Ind./Wabash) highlighted the women's performance at the meet, finishing 17th among the 378 women competing. Wilhelm posted a 18:33 time in the six-kilometer race.
Stephanie Cave (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) was 48th (19:09),
Lindsay Houvener (Winona Lake, Ind./Warsaw) 126th (20:13),
Kaitlin Boester (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Northrup) 137th (20:19) and
Lindsey Sitzman (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) 148th (20:28) for Indianapolis.
On the men's side, the Hounds were led by
Mark Martinez (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Guilford) and
Josh Gornall (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South), who both crossed in 26:37 (64th/65th).
Michael Landy (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) was seven seconds off that pace in 75th, while
Ian O'Boyle (Hammond, Ind./Bishop Noll) finished 146th (27:34) and
Andrew Piropato (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrup) 159th (27:42).
UIndy will compete in the Lucian Rosa Invite next Saturday, hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside.
