INDIANAPOLIS- University of Indianapolis senior
Seth Fair (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) carded three straight sub-par rounds to finish second at the 54-hole Butler Fall Invitational, held at Eagle Creek Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. Fair paced a UIndy team that finished fourth among a mostly-Division I 13-team field.
The field included 10 NCAA Division I schools, mostly hailing from the Horizon League or the Missouri Valley Conference. Wisconsin-Green Bay shot par or better each and every round to take the team title by three strokes over Loyola University Chicago.
Loyola didn’t go home empty handed, however, as Rambler senior Thomas Greene set a school record with a 54-hole score of 203, good for medalist’s honors.
Just three strokes back, Fair’s tournament was highlighted by a second-round 67 Monday. UIndy’s No. 1 capped his event with a one-under 70 Tuesday, despite rainy conditions.
Sophomore
Aaron Monson (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) made it two Hounds in the top ten, as his 215 (70-74-71) was good for a share of ninth. Senior
Kyle Miller (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) placed 37th with a 223, junior
Blair Webb (Avon, Ind./Avon) tied for 46th with a 226, and junior
Ryan Myers (Columbus, Ind./Columbus East) shared 51st with s 227.
The remaining five on the Greyhound roster also competed at the cross-town tourney. The quintet was led by senior
Brad Abel (Nappanee, Ind./Northwood), who finished with a three-round score of 217 (71-72-74) to tie for 16th place among the 85 golfers.
UIndy heads south to wrap up the fall portion of its 2009-10 schedule. The Hounds will be part of a talented field at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational next week, held at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Oct. 12-13.
