ROMEOVILLE, Ill.- For the third straight year, three UIndy volleyball players earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference First Team accolades, as first-time recipient Cheneta Morrison joined multi-time honorees Kyleigh Turner and Lyndsay Callahan on the first team.  Freshmen Kristina Kerrigan and Kourtney Crawford both received third-team honors, with Kerrigan also being named GLVC Freshman of the Year.

Cheneta Morrison (Fort Wayne, Ind./Ft. Wayne Snider), an all-conference second teamer at opposite hitter last year, made a seamless transition to setter this season, helping the Hounds rank fifth in all of Division in team hitting percentage (.288) and 13th in assists per game (16.33).

Four-year starting libero Kyleigh Turner (Muncie, Ind./Cowan) garnered her third first-team nod in her final year of eligibility.  Already the school’s all-time leader in career digs, Turner surpassed the 2,000-dig mark earlier this season.  The Muncie, Ind. native heads into play this week ranked 33rd in the nation in digs per set (4.88).

Junior outside hitter Lyndsay Callahan (Chicago, Ill./Marist) grabbed her second consecutive All-GLVC First Team honor.  Also a primary passer, Callahan achieved a pair of milestones this year by becoming just the fourth Greyhound ever to compile 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.  She is hitting a personal-high .289 this season and is hoping to break her own school record for most digs in a season by a non-libero.

Kristina Kerrigan (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) became the first Greyhound to win GLVC Freshman of the Year honors since 2001 (Shaun McAllister).  In her first collegiate season, the outside hitter leads the Hounds in both kills and attack attempts and ranks third in the GLVC in kills per game in conference play.

Local product Kourtney Crawford (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) received third-team laurels as a right-side hitter.  The Bishop Chatard grad hit .324 in league games and was one of only three opposite sides to earn recognition.

The All-GLVC Team announcement was made at the annual pre-tourney reception Thursday evening.  The ninth-ranked Greyhounds earned the second seed in this year’s GLVC Tournament and will be competing with seven other schools for the 2009 conference title, including host and three-time defending-champion Lewis University.  UIndy faces seventh-seed Drury Friday at 3:30 PM Eastern.  Click here for live stats and here for the video webcast.
