Morrison garners second Player of the Week honors
INDIANAPOLIS- In an announcement by league officials Monday, UIndy volleyball student-athlete Cheneta Morrison (Fort Wayne, Ind./Ft. Wayne Snider) picked up her second Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week Award of 2009.  The junior setter helped the Greyhounds to a pair of conference road wins over Drury and Rockhurst last weekend.

Morrison compiled lofty averages of 13.00 assists and 1.00 blocks in seven sets played last week, while also picking up three digs per set and hitting .344.  She just missed a triple-double with a 36-assist, 10-kill, 8-dig performance at Drury Friday night.  The setter from Fort Wayne, Ind. guided the Hounds' offense to a .392 team hitting percentage while hitting .533 herself.  She also earned four total blocks and an ace in the match.

Morrison followed that with a career-high 59 assists Saturday afternoon at Rockhurst, good for the highest four-set total in the GLVC this year.  She also added 13 digs and three blocks in the winning effort.

Indianapolis is one of only two GLVC schools with three weekly winners this year (Lewis).  Morrison, the season's first repeat winner, also grabbed the honors back on Aug. 31, while teammate Lyndsay Callahan (Chicago, Ill./Marist) took the cake Oct. 19.

Owners of the most wins in all of Division II, UIndy (30-1, 11-1 GLVC) enters the final week of the regular season with a road match at St. Joseph’s Tuesday night before the finale at home versus GLVC-newcomer Maryville Saturday afternoon.
