Turner garners academic honor
Turner CoSIDA
INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy senior Kyleigh Turner (Muncie, Ind./Cowan) was named to the Academic All-District V Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday.  The four-year starting libero is holding down a 3.93 cumulative GPA in business education while helping the Greyhound volleyball team to a stellar 31-1 record this season.

Turner is the first Greyhound to be named Academic All-District since 2005 (Whitey Boling).  She was selected as the GLVC Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2008 and is expected to pick up her fourth Academic All-GLVC nod this season.

The Muncie, Ind. native holds school records for most digs in a career and in a season.  She heads into the final weekend of the regular season ranked second in the conference and 32nd in the nation in digs per set (4.91).

The district is comprised of NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, along with the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario.

Individuals on the all-district teams are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America; a 2,400-member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
