WILDER, Ky.- Host Northern Kentucky grabbed a 3-0 win over the Greyhound women's soccer team at the Town & Country Sports Complex Friday evening in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament.  The victory propels NKU into Sunday's championship match.

Tenth-ranked NKU controlled the play from the start and the Norse struck first in the fourth minute.  Following a long cross that cleared the box, Caitlyn Mueller collected and sent it back in for Kendall Day, who turned and fired a low shot to beat a diving Shae Morris (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) to her left.

UIndy's (15-5) best chance came in the ninth minute when Shelby Spinelli (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) wrestled the ball away from a defender and fired a cross deep into the box, but Natalie Dietel (Carmel, Ind./Bishop Chatard) could not settle it to get off a shot and NKU escaped unscathed.

NKU took the 1-0 lead into halftime, garnering an 11-2 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Norse built their lead to a two-goal advantage when Day pocketed her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute.  Day made good on a throw-in that wasn't cleared and UIndy found itself down a pair with just over 27 minutes to play.

Mueller put the finishing touches on the Norse win with her header after an NKU corner, its ninth corner of the contest.  NKU peppered the Greyhound net, outshooting its opponents, 17-5.

NKU (17-2) will play the winner of tonight's second semifinal match, Quincy versus Bellarmine.  The GLVC Championship will be contested Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds are ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Midwest regional rankings.  UIndy will await word on its seed for the upcoming NCAA championships with the selections being announced Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

Notes:  UIndy was the No. 4 seed in the GLVC tournament ... all four of the top seeds advanced to today's semifinal round ... UIndy defeated the Norse in the regular season, a 2-1 win Sep. 20 at Key Stadium ... the Greyhounds are looking to make their second NCAA appearance in four years (2006).
