TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -  After spending three seasons as an assistant at Indiana State, Stan Gouard returned to Hulman Center, but this time it was to lead his Indianapolis Greyhounds against the host Sycamores on Saturday afternoon.  UIndy held their own, but it would be Indiana State that would ultimately prevail, downing the Hounds 82-67.

The Sycamores led 6-4 after the first timeout, but would push their advantage to 20-10 on a Dwayne Lathan dunk with 8:44 remaining in the first half.

Junior Darius Adams (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur / Lincoln College) closed the gap to 24-17 after a deep three-pointer at the 5:25 mark, but the Greyhounds would get no closer as the Sycamores would take a 10 point lead into the locker room after Harry Marshall sunk a jump shot from the foul line as the first half buzzer sounded.

The second half opened as both teams traded baskets for the first five minutes, as Indiana State led 46-34 at the 15:28 mark.  However, the Sycamores began to break the game open with a 10-1 run that began and ended with baskets by Doluony Koang, giving ISU a 56-35 advantage with 12:50 remaining in the contest.

The Greyhounds closed the Sycamore margin to 62-46 on a put back by Dijon Knight (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley / Kaskaskia C.C.) with just nine minutes to play and would trail 66-48 after an official timeout at 7:05.

A pair of DeWann Squires (Indianapolis, Ind./Arlington / Lincoln Trail College) free throws would cut the ISU lead to 11 at the 4:05 mark, but Jordan Printy would respond with a quick trey on the other end of the floor and push the Indiana State margin back to 72-58.

Freshman Andrew Parrish (Dayton, Ohio/Northmont / Akron) tallied five quick points for the Hounds with just under two minutes remaning and Knight netted the final basket for UIndy, but it was not enough as the host Sycamores prevailed 82-67.

Larry Woods (Robbins, Ill./Shepard / Moraine Valley C.C.) led the Greyhounds offensively with 14 points, as he was one of three UIndy players in double figures.  Squires finished with 13 on the afternoon, while Ryan Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne Snider / Bowling Green State) added 10 of his own.

Sergey Struck (Wabash, Ind./Southwood / Danville Area C.C.) ended his afternoon grabbing a game-high seven rebounds and netting eight points, while Adams collected six boards and finished with seven points.

Defensively, the Greyhounds tallied 11 steals, seven of them coming from the UIndy backcourt in Adams and Sims.

Indianapolis won the turnover battle, forcing 20 Indiana State turnovers as opposed to just 11 by the Greyhounds, but it was the Sycamores hot shooting that would prove to be the difference.
Indiana State connected on 25 of their 46 shot attempts for a 54% clip, while the Hounds managed just 20 buckets on 62 tries for 32% against the stingy ISU defense that swatted 12 Greyhound shots, six of them coming from 6'11" center Josh Crawford.

With the loss, the Greyhounds conclude their exhibition slate with a 1-1 record and will tip-off their regular season schedule on Sunday, November 15 when they host The College of Mount St. Joseph at 5:30 in Nicoson Hall.
