INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis' women's soccer team learned they would be traveling to Allendale, Michigan for their opening round match after the NCAA released the Division II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament bracket earlier this evening.
The Greyhounds received the fifth seed in the Midwest region and will play fourth seeded Bellarmine on Friday at time to be determined on the campus of Grand Valley State University.
UIndy enters NCAA Tournament play with an overall record of 15-5-0 and a 11-3-0 mark in GLVC matchups. The Knights finished with a 13-3-1 record and were 10-2-1 in GLVC after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Quincy in the GLVC Semifinals last Friday. Bellarmine handed the Greyhounds their first loss of the season on September 18 with a 1-0 victory at Key Stadium.
The Lakers, who received the top seed in the Midwest region, will play the winner of the Indianapolis/Bellarmine matchup on Sunday at a time yet to be determined. GVSU comes into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 team in the nation and boasts a record of 18-0-3 after topping Saginaw Valley State on Sunday to claim their third consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title.
Indianapolis fell 4-1 to the Lakers in a non-conference matchup played on September 23 at the Fort Wayne Sport Club.
