Hounds earn two more All-American honors

Smith, Stiem earn second All-American finishes of NCAA meet

HOUSTON, Texas- Manuel Stiem and Erica Smith each notched their second All-American finishes of the national meet during Day II of competition at the NCAA Division II Winter Festival. Stiem took second place in the 100-yard butterfly, while Smith earned third in the women's version of the same race.

Smith touched in a time of 55.23 in the 100 fly, while Stiem reached in 47.28, just 0.03 behind the national champion. Isabela Tafur took 10th in the 200-yard freestyle, recording a time of 1:50.17, while Ozlem Taskin earned 12th place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:28.82. The Greyhound women's 200-yard freestyle relay took 12th with a clocking of 1:35.57.

Overall, the Greyhounds ended the day in a tie for 14th place on the men's side with 55 points, and in 13th on the women's side with 66 total points. Twenty of the 42 events in the four-day event have been completed. UIndy will have athletes competeing in eight of the 10 races to be contested Friday.
