NCAA D2 Winter Festival

Erica Smith and
Manuel Stiem each took their third All-American honor of the 2009 Division II National Championships at the University of Houston Friday. Smith earned her accolades in the 200-yard butterfly, while Stiem took his finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Greyhound women's 800-yard freestyle relay also earned All-American honors, finishing sixth in their race.
Smith touched in 2:02.55 to take fourth place in the 200 fly. Stiem earned his third runner-up title of the meet, finishing in a time of 54.45 in the 100 breast. The Friday performances were both Smith and Stiem's third All-American honors of the national meet, and Smith went on to take another All-American finish as a part of the 800 free relay team. Isabela Tafur,
Ozlem Taskin and
Meghan Donahue, touched in 7:30.66 to earn sixth place.
In addition to the All-Americans, Taskin finished in 12th in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.37.
Alican Alacli earned 16th place in the 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 4:33.63.
UIndy currently stands in eighth place in the women's team standings with 112 total points, while the Greyhounds are in 15th place on the men's side with 73 points. The meet wraps up Saturday.
