Hounds open outdoor season with pair of provisionals

CINCINNATI, Ohio-  The Greyhound track and field teams opened their outdoor season competing at the Early Bird Duals meet at the University of Cincinnati.  Two Greyhounds reached NCAA provisional marks at the meet.  The men finished in second while the women took fifth in the team standings.

UIndy totaled a pair of individual wins at the meet, which also featured seven Division I schools. Grant Dean won the long jump with a 6.75-meter effort.  Seth Galloway was the winner of the javelin with an NCAA provisionally-qualifying toss of 59.52 meters.  Craig Myers picked up the other provisional mark with his runner-up performance in the hammer throw (55.95m). 

Other top five finishes included Dustin Gilpatrick taking fifth in the shot put (13.98m).  Benjamin Bertoli took third in the triple jump (12.60m), while Rachel Robinson was fifth in the women's event (9.97m).  Bertoli also garnered a third place finish in the 400 hurdles (57.84). Bryan Back was third in the high jump (1.88m).  Courtny Cotton crossed the finish in 15.87 seconds to take fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.

UIndy will travel back to Cincinnati for the Oliver Nikoloff Invite next Saturday at UC.
