INDIANAPOLIS- Seniors
Amy Schmitz and
Andrea Horban highlighted an impressive showing at the Stan Lyons Invite at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Field Stadium on the campus of IUPUI Saturday. Schmitz grabbed a new school record in the hammer throw with a winning and automatic NCAA-qualifying heave of 57.07 meters while Horban finished in the top 20 in all four events in which she competed, provisionally-qualifying in two.
Kierra Allen was third in the 100 meter dash (12.13).
Katie Dewey finished sixth in the 800 meter run.
Emily Schaf tied for first in the high jump, clearing 1.72 meters, a provisional mark.
Horban threw the shot put 14.19 meters to finish third and was seventh in the hammer (49.50m), both NCAA provisional qualifiers. Horban also picked-up eighth place in the discus with a 42.50-meter effort.
Courtney Kuzmicz was ninth in the discus (42.29m).
Heather Rourk was the winner in the javelin with a provisional throw of 42.82 meters.
Nick Seager took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing in 14.89 seconds. He also took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (55.90).
Craig Myers registered a provisionally-qualifying toss in the hammer event, finishing with a sixth-place effort of 58.77 meters.
Willie Little also provo'd, finishing right behind Myers with a 58.34-meter toss.
Seth Galloway won the javelin, launching a 62.63-meter throw and provisionally qualifying as well.
The Greyhounds will get used to the Carroll Stadium, hosting their next two meets there. First on the docket is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships set for May 1-2. UIndy will also host the Indy Twilight meet the following Wednesday at Carroll Stadium.
