INDIANAPOLIS- Behind the strength of four league championships and three runner-up finishes, the University of Indianapolis took second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Sports Trophy, which was awarded to Northern Kentucky University for the sixth time since 2000. UIndy also finished third in the GLVC's Commissioner Cup standings, which feature only the league's "core" sports.
The strength of the spring sports catapulted UIndy up the standings in both races. The Greyhounds grabbed conference titles in both men's and women's golf and women's outdoor track. Adding in a runner-up from both the men's outdoor track and baseball teams gave Indianapolis 72.5 points in the spring season alone. The women's indoor track team won its first GLVC crown and the men finished second to add 15 more points combined in the winter in the All-Sports Trophy competition.
The Commissioner's Cup includes seven sports: men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and baseball. NKU also grabbed that honor, winning four titles while finishing in the top three in each sport in the conference standings.
