Five Hounds grab All-American honors at NCAA DII outdoor meet

Results

SAN ANGELO, Texas-  The Greyhound track and field teams added five more All-Americans at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on the campus of Angelo State University.  The UIndy women finished in a tie for 15th as a team while the men tied for 31st place.

SATURDAY
Sophomore Seth Galloway (Center Grove, Ind./Center Grove) earned his first All-America honor with his fifth-place finish in the javelin throw.  Galloway registered his 61.13-meter throw on his last attempt in the finals.

Heather Rourk (Iola, Kan./Iola) competed in the women's javelin, placing 16th with a throw of 33.85 meters.

Emily Schaf (Boggstown, Ind./Triton Central) picked-up UIndy's fifth All-America honor at the meet when she took seventh place in the women's high jump, clearing 1.71 meters.

Courtney Kuzmicz (Frankfort, Ind./Frankfort) was 13th in the discus throw, achieving a 40.11-meter toss on her second attempt.

FRIDAY
Senior Andrea Horban (Elkhart, Ind./Mishawaka) became a six-time All-American in her career with a second-place finish in the shot put.  Horban concluded her collegiate career with a new school-record, registering a lifetime best of 15.41 meters on her fifth attempt.  The Indianapolis women ended day two with 13 team points, good for seventh place overall.

THURSDAY
UIndy grabbed two honors in the hammer throw and narrowly missed out on a third on a very successful first day of action.  Senior Amy Schmitz (Normal, Ill./Central Catholic) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.45-meters on her final attempt.   Schmitz, who was also an All-America honoree in the indoor season in the weight throw, put a cap on a fantastic career and helped UIndy earn five points in the team standings after day one.

Senior Willie Little (Chicago, Ill./Lincoln Park) grabbed seventh place on the men's side for the other All-American honor.  Craig Myers (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) nearly joined him, but just missed out by placing ninth.  Both established personal bests with their efforts Thursday as Little etched a heave of 59.04 meters and Myers was right behind at 58.47 meters.
