He finished in the top five in 11 of 14 events on the season and won six tournaments. Hueber broke his own school-record for scoring average, led Division II and ranked sixth among all collegiate golfers. The Academic All-GLVC selection posted a 3.341 cumulative GPA and earned a 3.533 semester GPA while twice tying the school-record for lowest 18-hole score (65). Hueber helped the Greyhounds claim their second consecutive GLVC Championship and helped the Hounds to a tie for fifth place nationally at the NCAA Championships in Blaine, Wash.
McBride capped an outstanding 2008-09 campaign by winning the 2009 NCAA Division II Individual National Championship. She became the first women’s golf national champion in school history by winning the four-day event by two strokes. She helped the Greyhounds to a third-place team finish at the National Championships and also finished third at the GLVC Championships, helping UIndy to the team title. McBride, has maintained a 3.815 cumulative GPA in Visual Communication & Design and Fine Arts and posted a 3.764 semester GPA. She averaged 78.3 strokes per round during the year and recorded six top-five finishes and 11 top-ten finishes. Schaf shined in both the outdoor and indoor season for the Greyhounds. She led UIndy to the team titles at the GLVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships and qualified for the national championships during each season. Schaf, who has maintained a 3.983 cumulative GPA, is working toward her doctorate as she was accepted to the Doctoral program for Physical Therapy after only three years of undergraduate work. Schaf was the GLVC indoor and outdoor champion in the high jump and also placed second in the outdoor triple jump and third in the indoor triple jump. Schaf placed 11th at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the high jump and earned her fourth All-America honor after finishing seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor meet.
UIndy finished the 2008-09 season with six GLVC Scholar Athlete winners, easily the most of any institution. Only Northern Kentucky had more than one honoree (2). The league selects one student-athlete in each conference sport to be designated the GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award is based upon athletic accomplishments, both team and individual, and academic performance in the season upon which the award is based. Each conference member has the opportunity to nominate one individual from its team for the award. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average which meets Academic All-America standards (3.30), and freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award. The voting is done by each institution's Faculty Athletic Representative.
