Schaff cosida aaa

INDIANAPOLIS-  University of Indianapolis student-athlete Emily Schaf (Boggstown, Ind./Triton Central) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, according to an announcement made public Friday.  Schaf becomes the 42nd Academic All-America honoree at UIndy and the 30th since 2000.

Schaf became a four-time All-American at this season's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships by placing seventh in the high jump.  She cleared 1.71 meters, helping the UIndy women to a tie for 15th place as a team.  She qualified for nationals in both the indoor and outdoor high jump.  At the conference level, Schaf won the high jump at both the GLVC Indoor and GLVC Outdoor Championships as the Hounds took home team titles on both occasions.  She closed out a fabulous career this past season and owns the school record in the indoor high jump (5' 7.25").

The Boggstown, Ind. native is the first UIndy women's track & field Academic All-America® honoree since Maria Harriman received a first-team nod in 2002.  Schaf, who is using her fifth year of eligibility, is studying in the doctorate program of physical therapy here at the school and carries a hefty 3.98 cumulative grade point average.

CoSIDA selects Academic All-America® and All-District teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at-large and women's at-large. A first team, second team and third team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions. Football consists of just first and second teams.  The teams are nominated and voted on by the Sports Information Directors at the member institutions.   The District V College Division is comprised of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba.
