CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Teams for Division I, II & III were announced Wednesday with a total of 410 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. Four UIndy student-athletes were among the honorees, including
Lyndsay McBride (Bristol, Ind./Northridge),
Kristi Piepenbrink (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood),
Ashley Seaton (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) and
Allison Tyler (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis).
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. UIndy's four honorees met the lofty academic requirements of a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA while competing in at least 66% of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
2009 NGCA Second Team All-American Kristi Piepenbrink finishes her collegiate career as a four-time member of the All-American Scholar Team, juniors Lyndsay McBride -- the 2009 Division II individual national champion -- and Ashley Seaton both garnered their third straight inclusion, while sophomore Allison Tyler picked up her second such honor in as many years.
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. Today, the NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
