Men's hoops announces signees

INDIANAPOLIS-  Head men's basketball coach Stan Gouard has announced his initial group of signees for the 2009-10 season.  The first two signees are from the Junior College ranks in Darius Adams (Lincoln College) and Dewann Squires (Lincoln Trail College) who both come from Region 24 at the NJCAA level.

Adams, six-foot guard, led his JC school to a 27-10 record last season and was a  First Team All-America selection.  He was named the Region 24 Conference Player of the Year and was picked to participate in the 2009 NJCAA All-Star game at season's end.  Adams' Lynx squad won back-to-back conference titles and took third in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2008-09.  Last season the Decatur, Ill. native averaged 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest.

Squires, a six-foot-five forward, posted averages of 16.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season at Lincoln Trail College.  The Indianapolis native will be heading home after prepping at Arlington High School.

Coach Gouard is entering his second season at the helm at UIndy.  More signees will be announced at a later date.
