Women's soccer stays unbeaten with 2-0 shutout of Kentucky Wesleyan

Box Score

OWENSBORO, Ky.- The #12 UIndy women's soccer team stayed perfect on the 2009 season with a 2-0 shutout of Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.  Senior Ashley Seehase tallied her fourth goal of the year in the win.

The Greyhounds continued their streak of getting on the board first, needing just under three minutes before taking an early 1-0 advantage over the host Panthers on a goal by Seehase in the 3rd minute that was assisted by Amanda Reese.

Kentucky Wesleyan (1-3-1, 0-3-0 GLVC) outshot Indianapolis 7-3 in the first half, but could not get the equalizer on the Hound defense that allowed only two of the seven attempts to reach goalkeeper Shae Morris.

UIndy would take a 1-0 advantage after 45 minutes of play and turn the tables on the Panthers in the second half, firing 10 shots to KWC's four in the second stanza.

The Greyhound lead would be pushed to 2-0 after an own goal by the Panthers in the 71st minute.  The goal would be the final tally of the contest and secure the win for Indianapolis.

Morris collected three saves in goal for the Hounds and earned her fourth shutout of the season as her record remained unblemished in 2009.

The victory improved UIndy's record to 6-0-0 and 3-0-0 in GLVC action.  The Greyhounds will be back in action on Friday night at Key Stadium when they host conference opponent Bellarmine at 5:00 PM.  The Knights currently stand at 3-1-0 and 1-1-0 in conference play after they suffered their first defeat of the year at the hands of Northern Kentucky earlier today.
