GREENCASTLE, Ind.- The UIndy women's tennis team moved to 2-1 overall on the season with a split at DePauw University Saturday. The Hounds bested cross-town IUPUI 5-4, before falling to NCAA Division III powerhouse DePauw, the No. 12 team in the nation, 9-0.

IUPUI took a 2-1 lead after taking the top two doubles matches. The UIndy pair of
Rachel Barger and
Ceciley Starkey scored an 8-6 win at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, the Greyhounds won the last four singles positions to generate the winning points for a 5-4 victory.
Aly Neidlinger won at No. 3,
Lee Matthews won at No. 4,
Kelsey Hartman at No. 5 and
Rachel Barger at No. 6 all in straight sets.

Despite the team score, the Greyhounds battled the 12th-ranked Tigers on their home venue.
Alena Perez-Majul and
Aly Neidlinger lost a close 8-5 battle at top doubles. Perez-Majul took the first set at top singles against Kelly Gebert, but fell 6-7, 6-4, 10-1.
Meghan Teunis was in a grueling match at No. 2 singles, winning the first set, 6-3. After dropping the second set, 6-4, Kayla Smith needed a 10-8 win in the super tiebreaker to take the victory. The Tigers won each of the bottom four singles spots to take the win.
UIndy (2-1) will finish-up the fall portion of its schedule this week, hosting the ITA Regional at Center Grove High School. The Hounds will then break until a Feb. 27 match with Franklin College to open its championship season.
