BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- Competing versus a Division I heavy field, the University of Indianapolis men's golf team (+15) finished third at the 12-team John Piper Intercollegiate Tuesday, led by
Blair Webb's one-under 215. The 54-hole event featured 10 D-I squads, with Wisconsin-Green Bay taking the team title by downing host Bowling Green State in a playoff.
After compiling a first-round 297, UIndy shot back-to-back 291s to finish with an 864, 15 strokes ahead of fourth-place Cleveland State.
Junior
Blair Webb led the way for the Hounds, as his one-under 215 earned a share of fifth place individually. The Avon High School grad compiled a scoring average of 2.83 on par-3s to lead the 63-man field.
Senior
Seth Fair - who won the Kiawah Island Invite last week - notched his second straight top-10 finish, as his scores of 73-72-72 tied for seventh. The two-time all-region performaer amassed a tournament-best 41 pars on his way to a one-over 217.
Sophomore
Aaron Monson shot +1 over the final 36 holes to finish with a 221, good for sole possession of 18th. Senior
Brad Abel carded a 230 (76-79-75) to tie for 36th, while classmate
Kyle Miller rounded out the team scoring with a 231 (77-75-79) to finish in 41st.
Individual competitor
Ryan Myers, who notched one of only eight eagles during the event, tied for 51st with a 234 (75-77-82).
The first of three regular-season regionals is on tap for the Greyhounds. The squad heads to South Haven, Mich. Sep. 20-21 for the Great Lakes Fall Regional.
