Women's Soccer:  Freshman Shelby Spinelli and sophomore Morgan Binder scored goals to lead the Hounds past perennial power Northern Kentucky, 2-1 on Sunday.  The win came after UIndy suffered its first setback of the season, a 1-0 decision to Bellarmine on Friday.  UIndy (7-1-0, 4-1-0 GLVC), which was ranked #10 nationally last week, prepares for a Wednesday showdown with fourth-ranked Grand Valley State in Ft. Wayne, Ind. before traveling to Saint Joseph's on Sunday.

Men's Soccer:  The Greyhounds (3-3-2, 1-3-1) lost a pair of one-goal games this past week, falling 3-2 to Bellarmine Friday and 2-1 to #2 Northern Kentucky Sunday.  Freshman Bobby Adkins continued his early-season success, netting a pair of goals Friday, giving him eight in just eight games.  His goal total is just one shy of league-leader and reigning national player of the year Steven Beattie of NKU.  UIndy will play just one match this week, traveling to Rensselaer, Ind. to battle Saint Joseph's on Sunday.

Volleyball: The #12 Hounds split on the weekend, dropping a 3-0 match to then-#17 Lewis Friday before rebounding to sweep Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday.  UIndy's record is 15-1 heading into this weekend's matches at Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T.   The Hounds have three of the top six hitters in the conference, led by sophomore Hannah Kelzer, who is hitting .430 on the season.

Football:  UIndy (1-3, 0-3 GLIAC) hosts #19 Saginaw Valley State this Saturday at Key Stadium.  The Greyhounds will look to bounce back from a 23-0 defeat at Hillsdale last week.  Junior defensive back Craig Ray filled-up the stat sheet on defense, collecting 13 total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.  Ray's 42 tackles this season are third-most in the conference.

Women's Golf: Led by individual medalist Lyndsay McBride, the #8 University of Indianapolis women’s golf team continued its productive fall by taking the team title at the Screaming Eagle Golf Classic at Cambridge Golf Course Sunday and Monday.  McBride racked up 21 pars and tournament-best seven birdies in the event, while leading the 65-golfer field with a 4.5 scoring average on the par 5s.  The win marks McBride’s third in four tournaments this fall and brings her season winning percentage to a near-perfect 295-1.  Up next for UIndy is the GLVC Championship Preview, held at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Ill. Sep. 26-27.

Men's Golf: Aaron Monson and Blair Webb each shot a one-under 143 to tie for sixth at the two-day Great Lakes Fall Regional at Hawks Head Golf Course Monday.  The pair topped a UIndy squad that finished fourth among the large 24-team field.  Next week, the Greyhounds host the annual UIndy Ken Partridge Intercollegiate Sep. 28-29.  The event will double as the Division II NCAA Preview, as the Hounds and many of the other top programs in the nation migrate to Noblesville, Ind. and the Jack Nicklaus-designed Sagamore Club, site of the 2010 D-II national championship tournament this coming spring.

Men's & Women's Cross Country:  The Greyhound cross country teams competed at the annual Indiana Intercollegiates meet Friday at Indiana State University.  The meet featured 14 men's and women's non-Division I squads from all around the Hoosier state.  Katherine Wilhelm led the Greyhound women, placing ninth individually and helping UIndy to a fourth-place finish as a team.   On the men's side, UIndy took sixth in the field of 14 and was paced by Josh Gornall, who traversed the 8-kilometer course in 26:15, good for a fourth-place showing.  UIndy will head to Evansville, Ind. next Saturday to compete in the Southern Indiana Invite.

Women's Tennis:  The University of Indianapolis hosted the Intercollegiate Tennis Association women's tennis Midwest Regional Friday through Sunday, headquartered at Center Grove High School.  The tournament featured 16 collegiate teams from the region battling through both singles and doubles single-elimination brackets.  Meghan Teunis won her opening-round matchup in the singles bracket, defeating Southern Indiana's Katie Jo Clagg, 6-2, 6-3.  She later lost to the eight-seed of the singles draw in Tara Hayes of Grand Valley State, 6-2, 6-4. UIndy wrapped-up the fall portion of its schedule with the tournament and will return to action in February for its championship season.

Men's Tennis:  The Greyhound men's tennis squad officially opens its 2009-10 season by playing at the ITA Regional this Friday through Sunday in Midland, Mich.  This year's team features eight players and just one senior (Werner Henning).  The young group has three freshmen and three sophomores as the Hounds look to return to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season.
