KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.- University of Indianapolis senior
Seth Fair won the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to top the field at the sixth-annual Kiawah Island Invitational Tuesday. In the team's first action of the year, Fair paced a UIndy squad that shot +13 for the tournament, good for fifth among the competing 15 teams.
Fair shot a blistering 66 Monday to earn a four-stroke lead heading into final round, but a 75 Tuesday opened the door for Georgia College's Francisco Bide. Both Fair and Bide finished with matching 141 through 36 holes before the Brownsburg, Ind. native took the title on the first playoff hole.
UIndy senior
Brad Abel notched his highest finish as a collegian by finishing tied for 14th in the 75-man field. Abel carded a 146 for the tournament, including a personal-best even-par 72 in round one.
Junior
Blair Webb finished with a 151 (77-74) to share 35th, sophomore
Aaron Monson was one stroke back in 41st place (77-75), and senior
Kyle Miller tied for 52nd with a 155 (81-74).
The two-day, 36-hole Kiawah Island Invitational was contested at the 6,875-yard, par-72 Cougar Point Golf Course. USC Aiken served as host of the event.
The Hounds continue action next week at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio. The two-day event starts Monday, Sep. 14.
