WHEATON, Ill. - The Greyhound wrestling team used five placements on their way to a sixth place finish at the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational on Saturday at Wheaton College.  UIndy stood ninth after Friday's bouts, but an individual title at 125 from Alex Johns (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) propelled the Hounds up the team standings.  UW-Parkside claimed the team title.

Johns entered the event as the third seeded wrestler in the 125-pound bracket, but emerged victorious after claiming decisions over second-seeded Joe Norton of North Central and UW-Parkside's Cody Zimmerman, who was the top seed, on Saturday.

Ethan Harris (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove) placed fifth for the Greyhounds in the 133-pound class, winning all five of his matches by pinfall.  Olivet's Adam Wilson gave Harris his first lost on Friday, but Harris made his way through the wrestlebacks with pins over TJ Amone of Mount Union and Ryan Banning of Truman State.  Elmhurst's Jake Denhof sent Harris to the fifth place bout after a pin at the 1:45 mark, but he rebounded with yet another pin of Tom D'Alessandro of Heidelberg to capture the fifth spot.  The sophomore was awarded the Jack Swartz's Most Falls/Least Time Award for his five pins and also had the quickest pin of the event in 28 seconds.

Lynn Panko (Avon, Ind./Avon) remained in the championship bracket after Friday's matches, but suffered back to back decision losses to Mark Corsello of Elmhurst and Adam Sutter of Lakeland.  Panko finished fifth in the event with a pin of UW-Parkside's James Malechek at 3:39 in his final bout.

Other placements for Indianapolis came from David Lopez (Nappanee, Ind./NorthWood) in the 149-pound bracket and Bryce Givens (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) at 157.  Lopez finished the event with a 4-3 record on his way to a sixth place finish, while Givens claimed the seventh spot after a 4-2 mark for the two-day competition.

The UIndy wrestling team will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 3) when they travel to Lebanon, Ill. for a dual meet with McKendree University.  Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
