Watson, Helms named GLVC Track and Field Athletes of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - A pair of UIndy track and field athletes were honored by the Great Lakes Valley Conference after their performances on Saturday at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational. Katy Watson was named GLVC Field Athlete of the Week, while Frederick Helm garnered GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Helm posted a GLVC-leading time of 6.87 on his way to winning the 60-meter dash, a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marking. The Evansville native was also part of the 4-x-400 meter relay squad that posted a seasonal best time of 3:24.04.
Watson placed third in the shot put on Saturday after a season-best toss of 12.23 meters. In addition to her top-three finish in the shot, Watson also finished ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.44 meters.
The Greyhound men's and women's track teams return to action this weekend at the Division II Challenge hosted by the University of Findlay. The two-day meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM on Friday.
