INDIANAPOLIS- Winners of eight of its last nine games, the UIndy baseball team amassed 39 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky State at Greyhound Park Thursday.  Senior Aryn Ross (Shelbyville, Ind./Hauser) scored five runs in five at bats in the two in-region wins.

GAME 1
Game one got out of hand in hurry as the home team jumped out to a 15-0 lead after just three frames.  After plating a single run in the first, the Hounds recorded seven tallies apiece in the second and third innings, thanks to eight hits, three walks and four Thorobred errors.

UIndy starter Ryan Burlas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) started productively as well, holding KSU scoreless until an unearned run crossed the plate in the fourth.  Burlas eventually earned his first win of the season by allowing six hits in five innings, striking out three and walking three.

Head Coach Gary Vaught made wholesale changes in the top of the fourth, as all eight position starts were pulled.  The Greyhound bench produced four runs in the in the sixth inning, with Evan McCombs (Connersville, Ind./Connersville) and Kyler Mason (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) both picking up RBI doubles.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Pahl (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) allowed just one run over the final two frames to close it out for the Hounds.  Leadoff man Kaleb Cunningham (Knaps Station, N.Y./Stockton) went 4-for-4 with three runs and two ribbies, while Scott Mourey (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) had two hits, two walks, two RBI and three runs.

GAME 2

The Greyhounds continued to have success against Thorobred pitching, as KSU was unable to keep UIndy scoreless in any of its six second-game at bats.  Indianapolis racked up a season-high 20 runs in the capper, highlighted by a five-run fifth.

Leading 3-0 through one and a half, the Greyhounds collectively hit for the cycle in the bottom of the second.  With two outs and a man on second, UIndy managed three straight extra-base hits, as Cunningham stroked a triple, followed by an Adam Akin (Evansville, Ind./North) double and a two-run homer from Ross.

In his first start collegiate start, freshman and Lawrence North grad Clint Seefeldt (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) garnered the win by allowing two runs – both unearned – in six innings of work while fanning three and walking none.  Sophomore sidearmer Ryan Wolfe (Indianapolis, Ind./Decatur Central) put a bow on the sweep by pitching a hitless seventh, good for a combined four-hitter for the duo.

KSU again could not retire Cunningham, as the junior shortstop went 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs.  Cunningham, Akin, Ross, Kyle Anderson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) and Matt Maringer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) combined to go 10-for-11 with 11 runs and eight RBI.

UIndy (10-7, 1-1 GLVC) resumes GLVC play by hosting a four-game series with Kentucky Wesleyan Friday and Saturday.  First pitch is schedule for 1 p.m. tomorrow.
