INDIANAPOLIS- Senior-to-be
Blair Webb highlighted an impressive outing for Greyhound golfers at the 2010 Indiana Amateur Championship which completed Friday at the Country Club of Indianapolis. Webb put together back-to-back subpar rounds to climb the leaderboard and finish in a tie for third, just two shots off the pace set by Ball State's Eric Steger and Austin Peay's Eric Barnes.
Webb was two-over midway through the championships, but shot 68 and 69 in the final 36 holes to finish at one-under overall. Former teammate
Seth Fair was even for the tournament (70-68-71-71) and junior-to-be
Aaron Monson was tied for 20th (+9) at the Open.
156 of the state's best amateurs qualified for the 72-hole event, and 63 made the cut at 149 or better on Thursday. The event was scheduled to conclude on Thursday afternoon, but due to heavy rains and thunderstorms throughout the week, the final round was postponed until Friday, causing some of the players who made the cut to make a tough decision. The USGA Public Links qualifier was held at Purgatory on Friday as well, and many of the players in contention for the State Am title were forced to choose where to play. For complete results,
