UIndy 3, UMSL 1
ST. LOUIS- Three goals in the second half lifted the UIndy men's soccer team to it's first win of the season, a 3-1 decision over Missouri-St. Louis Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds are now 1-1 on the 2010 season, 1-0 in GLVC play.
UMSL struck first, netting a goal off of a rebound on a free kick in the 40th minute. UIndy would not answer back until just before the 53-minute mark, when
Roger Lee put his first goal of 2010 in. Lee scored one-on-one from about five yards out.
Just more than two minutes later,
Corey Nelson gave the Greyhounds the lead with his first goal of the season. Nelson took a ball from
Scott Gyllenborg in the top right corner of the box and bounced it off the goalie's hands for the score.
Max Marsh gave UIndy an insurance goal just before the end of the game. Marsh scored on a header off of a
Bobby Adkins corner kick in the 88th minute to give UIndy the 3-1 win.
UMSL out-shot the Greyhounds 17-13 in the contest. UIndy took four corner kicks to the Tritons' 2.
Justin Roberts took the win in the net for UIndy, recording nine saves in his 90-minute effort.
The Greyhounds continue GLVC play next Friday, hosting Kentucky Wesleyan in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Key Stadium.
