ALLENDALE, Mich.- In its final tournament of the calendar year, the UIndy women's golf team (317-315) placed fourth at the 15-team Laker Fall Classic, held at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich., Saturday and Sunday. Sophomores
Amy Thompson (+10) and
Jenny Konop (+11) each finished in the top 10.
Thompson's fifth-place showing made it four top 10s in five fall events for the Wakarusa, Ind., native.
Meanwhile, Konop used a second-round 74 to jump from 16th into a tie for sixth place. The two-over par output marked a team low for the tourney, as well as a personal best.
Senior
Darin Pinnick (81-82) tied for 24th, sophomore
Brianna Scheidler (79-85) shared 26th and freshman
Jaclyn Schindler (87-81) tied for 32nd.
Freshmen
Chanice Young (80-81) and
Regan Pittard (85-84) competed as individuals. Pittard shared 36th place, while Young placed 17th to lead all unattached players.
Host Grand Valley State (310-308) took the team title on its home course. Ashland (316-314) and California-PA (315-315) tied for second, just two strokes ahead of UIndy. GSVU's Sarah Hoffman (69-76) was the medalist.
The Greyhounds finished their fall slate with a .783 winning percentage, with team titles coming in two of the five events this semester. Pinnick will enter the spring season with a team-best 76.1 strokes-per-round average, followed closely by Thompson at 77.6.
