INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy women's soccer team ended its five-game winning streak with a 2-0 loss to No. 14 Northern Kentucky Sunday in GLVC action.
After almost a complete half of scoreless play, the Norse (11-1-0; 9-1-0 GLVC) scored in the 41st minute to take a 1-0 leadk.
Amanda Mason put in her GLVC-leading 13th score of the season, finishing on a long through ball up the middle into the box from Abbey Scherer.
The Greyhounds (8-4-0; 6-3-0 GLVC) had a chance in the 57th minute go wide off the foot of
Katie Johnston.
Shelby Spinelli set up the shot, stealing the ball and racing up the far side. She sent the ball across the box to Johnston, who sent the shot wide of the near post.
UIndy had a couple of corner kick chances around the 82nd minute, but could not make good on either. The Norse put their second score in at the 85:47 mark, with Kristi Hofmeyer shooting through the middle of a crowded box to put her team ahead 2-0.
The Norse out-shot UIndy 20-5 in the match, and took nine corner kicks to the Greyhounds' three overall.
Shae Morris was tabbed with the loss in net, making five saves on the day.
The Greyhounds return to the Key Stadium pitch next weekend, hosting Missouri S&T and Drury in GLVC action. Sunday's match will feature the squad's annual Senior Day festivities.
