Women's tennis hosts ITA Regional this weekend

The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team will play host to the top regional event of the fall calendar with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional this weekend. Action begins with singles play at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at Center Grove and Whiteland High School, while doubles starts at 1:30 p.m. at Center Grove. All remaining matches on Saturday and Sunday are at Center Grove with action slated to start at 9 a.m. each day. The singles final will be Sunday at 11 a.m. and the doubles final at 1:30 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, matches will be moved to the UIndy Tennis Center.

The Greyhounds have a tournament-high nine players in competition with eight players in the 64-player singles draw and four combinations participating in the 32-team doubles draw.

Senior Alena Perez-Majul, junior Rachel Barger and freshman Kelsey Matthews will all be beginning at Center Grove on Friday, while seniors Maggie Ashby and Meghan Teunis and sophomores Taylor Eckert, Kasey Land and Claire Liles play at Whiteland.

UIndy's four doubles teams consist of Ashby/Perez-Majul, freshman Brooke Boyts and Liles, Eckert/Teunis and Barger/Land.
