INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory in its first outing of the season Friday, besting Ferris State to move to 1-0-0 on the young season.
The two teams battled through more than 55 minutes of scoreless soccer before the gamewinner was sent into the net.
Kaitlyn Braunig broke the scoring drought in the 59th minute, heading home a ball sent across the box by
Shelby Spinelli. Duncan's offering, the eventual gamewinner, bounced in the net off the left post, giving UIndy the 1-0 advantage.
The Greyhounds got off 12 shots on the night to the Bulldogs' five. Spinelli led the UIndy offense with three shots in the contest, while Braunig and
Nicole Duncan each got off a pair of shots.
Shae Morris earned the shutout victory in the net for the Greyhounds, making two saves in her 90 minutes of work.
UIndy hosts Ohio Dominican Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in Key stadium.
