Women's Soccer posts 3-0 win over Illinois-Springfield

INDIANAPOLIS- A goal in the 20th minute proved to be the gamewinner for the UIndy women's soccer team in a 3-0 win over visiting Illinois-Springfield Friday at Key Stadium.

Lauren Soza tallied the UIndy goal, her third of the year. Soza took a cross across the front of the frame from Kaitlyn Braunig that went through the Prairie Star keeper's gloves and put it in the net for the goal.

The Greyhounds (4-3-0, 2-2-0 GLVC) added an insurance score on  Nicole Duncan's third goal of the year in the 62nd minute. Duncan put the ball into the upper near corner of the net, from about 15 yards out.

Katie Johnston pushed the UIndy lead to 3-0 in the 73rd minute, taking a ball from Duncan and putting it in  across the front of the goal. The score was Johnston's first of the year and her Greyhound career.

The Greyhounds out-shot the Prairie Stars (2-3-1; 1-3-1 GLVC) 16-7 in the win. Shae Morris tallied the clean sheet in the net, making two saves in the shutout effort.

UIndy continues GLVC play Sunday, hosting No. 3 Quincy in a noon match.
