LIBERTY, Mo.- UIndy quarterback
Chris Mills was named Second Team All-America by
D2Football.com Thursday. The Lafayette, Ind., native was one of only 100 Division II players – 25 on the first team, 25 on the second and 50 honorable mentions – sighted by the respected media outlet .
The recognition marks the first All-America nod for Mills. Earlier this academic year, the sophomore signal caller was named Second Team All-Region by both the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Don Hansen's Football Gazette, as well as First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC “Offensive Back of the Year.”
Mills paced the league in passing yards with 2,980, while setting new single-season school records for TD passes (29), completions (243) and completion percentage (63.8). He finished the season with just five interceptions, and at one point came a mere seven attempts shy of breaking the D-II record for most consecutive passes thrown without a pick.
The D2Football.com All-America Team was selected by the website's staff, with input from coaches and sports information directors from around the country. D2Football.com has named an All-America Team since its inception in 2000.
