Wrestling goes 2-1 at Ranger Duals

SOMERS, Wis.- The UIndy wrestling team went 2-1 on the day a the Wisconsin-Parkside Ranger Duals Saturday, posting wins over Minnesota-Mankato and the host Rangers.

UIndy opened the day with a 27-18 win over Minnesota-Mankato. The Greyhounds posted wins in six of the 10 bouts in the dual en route to the victory, highlighted by three pins.

Josh Kieffer put UIndy up 6-0 after the 125 match, pinning his opponent in 2:26. His brother, Justin Kieffer, also pinned his opponent, in 1:30, at 141. Steven Sandefer followed with a fall in 3:37 over Jesse Westphal in the 149 bout.

The Greyhounds took a 33-6 loss at the hands of Ashland in their second dual of the day. Justin Kieffer picked up a 6-2 win over Clarence Longley in the 141 bout, with Aaron Stevenson providing the only other UIndy win, an 8-1 decision in the 184 match.

A close, 21-19, dual with Wisconsin-Parkside closed out the day, with the Greyhounds coming out on top via six individual wins in the tilt. Stevenson (15-2) highlighted the victory, closing out a 3-0 day with a 6:15 pin of Matt Gille in the 184 bout.

Justin Kieffer (13-7) also took his third win of the day in the match, besting Arik Yde 5-2 in the 141 bout.

Next up for UIndy is a trip to the Pete Wilson Invitational at Wheaton next Friday and Saturday.
